BANNOCKBURN, IL — North American electronics manufacturing orders in February rose 21.5% year-over-year and 16.7% sequentially.
Total North American EMS shipments for the month were up 6.4% compared to February 2020, down 1.7% sequentially.
The book-to-bill ratio was 1.29, compared to 1.18 in January. A ratio of more than one suggests current demand is ahead of supply, which is a positive indicator for sales growth over the next three to twelve months.
“Orders increased significantly in February, suggesting some of the production declines we saw across manufacturing during the month due to severe weather will likely reverse in the coming weeks and months,” said Shawn DuBravac, IPC chief economist.
