LAHORE, PAKISTAN – A fire broke out at an electronics manufacturing factory here on Saturday, according to reports. No injuries or fatalities were reported.

The fire started on an assembly line in the refrigerator section of PEL. Some 500 workers were present at the time.

The fire burned machinery and materials and took three hours to extinguish.

“The fire erupted in the refrigerator section of the factory, which spread fast to other areas due to the huge stock of plastic goods and other raw material,” said Manzar Hassan, finance director, PEL. “The fire left no big loss to us, though it burned a huge stock of raw material and also burned partially some machines.”

The cause of the fire is suspected to be a short circuit.
