BANNOCKBURN, IL – Total North American EMS shipments in July were down 2.9% year-over-year, says IPC. Sequentially, July shipments fell 26.3%.
EMS orders rose 1.7% compared to July 2020 but dropped 30.6% compared to June 2021.
The book-to-bill ratio was 1.42, compared to 1.49 in June. A ratio of more than one suggests current demand is ahead of supply, which is a positive indicator for sales growth over the next three to twelve months.
“The electronics industry continues to be bogged down by supply chain disruptions,” said Shawn DuBravac, IPC’s chief economist. “Raw material lead times remain long, and shortages are hindering production and delaying shipments.”
