QUEBEC – Ampère Proto shut down operations permanently here May 11 because of a lack of staff and components, according to reports.

The 14-year-old firm first offered prototype assembly services and later moved to small production.

“Customers were still present, but deliveries were increasingly late and especially with non-quality,” said Guy Gilbert, president, Ampère.

Gilbert recently joined the team at contract electronics manufacturer Gentec.
