BANNOCKBURN, IL — North American PCB shipments rose 11.6% year-over-year in March and 30.1% sequentially, IPC announced today.

Bookings fell 10.5% from last year but rose 2.3% from the preceding month.

The book-to-bill ratio fell 80 basis points to 0.91, its second-lowest mark of the past 13 months.

The ratios is calculated by dividing the value of orders booked over the past three months by the value of sales billed during the same period from companies in IPC’s survey sample. A ratio of more than 1.0 suggests demand is ahead of supply, and is an indicator of future sales growth.

“The book-to-bill slipped this month, but this was driven in part by strong shipments,” said Shawn DuBravac, chief economist, IPC. “Order flow is holding steady, but at lower levels than a year ago.”
