ÖRNSKÖLDSVIK, SWEDEN – Kitron plans to build a new, larger production facility for its subsidiary Kitron Eltech in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, to support expected growth tied primarily to defense programs.

The company will construct a 7,300m² production site, roughly double the size of its current leased facility, along with additional office space. Kitron will own the new site, reinforcing its long-term commitment to the region.

“When we acquired DeltaNordic a few months ago, we made it clear that we were attracted to the strong, highly competent organisation in Örnsköldsvik. The decision to expand the operation here is a clear signal that this site is central to Kitron’s growth plans,” said Peter Nilsson, president and CEO.

The expansion is also expected to significantly increase headcount, with staffing projected to grow from about 120 employees to approximately 300 as production ramps to meet demand.

“Investing in a new and improved facility sends a clear signal to the local community and to our customers, particularly BAE Systems Hägglunds,” said Rickard Vahlberg, managing director of Kitron Eltech.

Kitron has signed a letter of intent with the Örnsköldsvik municipality to acquire land located roughly 5 kilometers south of the city center. Construction is expected to begin in early 2027, with completion targeted for early 2028.
