MILPITAS, CA – Global semiconductor materials market revenue increased 6.8% year-over-year to a record $73.2 billion in 2025, according to SEMI’s Materials Market Data Subscription (MMDS) report.

Growth was driven by increases across both wafer fabrication materials and packaging materials, fueled by rising process complexity, advanced-node manufacturing, and continued demand tied to high-performance computing and high-bandwidth memory production.

Wafer fabrication materials revenue rose 5.4% to $45.8 billion. SEMI said lithography-related materials, including photomasks, photoresists and ancillaries, posted strong double-digit growth as tighter lithography requirements and higher process intensity increased material consumption.

Packaging materials revenue climbed 9.3% to $27.4 billion in 2025. Growth was led by substrates and bonding wire demand, with higher gold prices also contributing to bonding wire revenue gains.

Taiwan remained the largest consumer of semiconductor materials for the 16th consecutive year with $21.7 billion in revenue, followed by China at $15.6 billion and South Korea at $11.2 billion. SEMI said all regions except Europe recorded year-over-year growth, with China and North America posting the strongest gains among major markets.
