BAD OEYNHAUSEN, GERMANY –  Several leading EMS companies have approached Balda AG, a maker of cellphone parts, for a possible strategic partnership, a local German newspaper reported.

Flextronics International, Asustek Computer, Quanta Computer and Foxconn International Holdings are interested in Balda's production of touchscreen components, a technology used in Apple's iPhone, the newspaper reported.

Among the reported options is a complete takeover of Balda. As a first step, the potential Balda partner may acquire a 29% stake to avoid having to make a mandatory offer to all shareholders under German law, according to the report.
