CHANDLER, AZ – Isola USA Corp., announced today has settled its patent infringement case with Rogers Corp. involving a pair of inventions and and that the lawsuit has been dismissed.

The suit involved Rogers' U.S. patent nos. 5,972,811 and 5,571,609, which cover polybutadiene and polyisoprene thermoset laminates. Rogers claimed that the IS640 family of laminate and prepreg products from Isola infringed on those patents.
Isola has a patent pending on the IS640 product. Isola USA Corp., a subsidiary of Isola Group, reported that it continues to sell the line.

In a statement today Isola Group chief executive Ray Sharpe said, “We were confident that the lawsuit would not keep us from providing IS640 product to our customers, particularly because we expect to receive a patent soon for our product. We are excited about selling our IS640 products unfettered by concerns about the Rogers Corporation lawsuit,” Sharpe said.

Rogers filed suit in U.S. district court in February 2005, claiming infringement of its own high-frequency laminate.

At the time, Isola said the claim lacked prior notice -- which, the company says, is "consistent with Isola's belief that the lawsuit is without merit and is intended by Rogers as a tactic to maintain its short-term competitive position in the high frequency circuit board laminate market."
