ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- Jabil Circuit's previously announced assembly factory in the Ukraine will come online next spring, according to several reports.

Circuits Assembly first reported the plans in October.

Construction started on the plant in September. The finished plant will have an 85,000 sq. ft. footprint and employ 1,500 workers.

Jabil is investing $18 million to build the plant and $20 million to outfit it. Another $12 million has been allocated for other plant needs.

Jabil has been sited in the Ukraine since 2004 and employs 900 workers at its Uzhgorod factory. Other EMS providers in the country include Flextronics, which has two design centers.

According to OSP International, Jabil will transfer production from Hungary to Ukraine.
