The Niton XL3 700 series handheld XRF analyzer provides fast solder alloy grade identification and laboratory-quality composition analysis of plastics and polymers. Typical time for routine solder screening measurements is said to be less than 5 sec. Features a 50 kV, 2-W x-ray tube, said to be the highest power x-ray tube available in a handheld XRF analyzer. Comes in a range of configurations with an assortment of options and accessories to suit a wide variety of analytical needs from quick screening to rapid simultaneous measurement of up to 25 elements (including lead, cadmium, mercury, chromium, bromine and chlorine) in a sample.

Enables close monitoring of lead, copper and other elemental concentrations in solder. Optional small spot analysis hardware permits selection of either 8 or 3 mm diameter analysis spot size for each measurement; the former permits screening of larger areas of PCBs and other heterogeneous samples; the latter can be switched to in seconds to perform isolated analysis on smaller components. Optional built-in color camera pinpoints areas of interest and stores sample images with XRF analytical results for record keeping and documentation.

Conducts accurate and cost-effective screening of solders, fasteners and other components.

Includes fully integrated, environmentally sealed adjustable position color touch-screen displays for easy viewing in all lighting conditions. Standard software produces certificates and reports, operates the unit remotely from a PC or PDA, and other capabilities. Saves and protects data from each sample analysis.
