PENANG – Kyzen has announced plans to add an applications laboratory at its Penang sales and support office.

The firm’s fourth application lab will include a broad range of cleaning equipment and cleaning evaluation devices to provide real-time results for customers while they design cleaning processes.

The laboratory currently is in the design stage.

TOKYO – Juki Corp. updated its forecast for its fiscal first half of 2009, predicting net sales of $275.3 million. The figure would be down 49% compared to 2008.

The net loss is expected to be nearly $87 million, compared to a net loss of $5.8 million during the same period last year.

Full fiscal 2009 net sales are expected to be $702.3 million, down 19.1% year-over-year. The net loss is forecast to be $103.7 million, compared to a net loss of $104.2 million in 2008.

Juki notes its current financial situation is influenced by the worldwide economic recession; business is falling short of its original projections.

The market for pick-and-place equipment hit bottom in the first quarter, the firm says, and the severe situation is continuing.

SAN JOSE – Cisco awarded Flextronics the 2009 EMS Partner Operational Excellence and B2B Collaboration awards.

The awards recognize Flextronics as the EMS partner that has delivered the strongest performance in demonstrating end-to-end operational excellence, and for going beyond expectations to implement a B2B program, process or initiative.

The awards were presented during Cisco's 18th annual supplier appreciation event on Sept. 30 in San Jose.
