Customers benefit from products manufactured in a more precise, fast and cost-effective way
SUWANEE, GA – Feb. 23, 2017 – To better accommodate high-volume customer assembly operations, as well as components that simply cannot be effectively hand soldered, Prime Technological Services (Prime) has added Juki’s CUBE.460 selective wave soldering system to its core manufacturing assets.
The addition of this world-class printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) equipment is the company’s next step in a multi-year, multi-million dollar capital re-investment plan to completely modernize and expand its Suwanee, Ga., manufacturing facility by year-end.
“As a contract manufacturer, we are routinely exposed to a variety of soldering challenges that make it difficult to process manually due to heavy ground planes, high thermal mass components and tight spacing from previously mounted surface mount (SMT) components,“ said Jim Liptak, Prime’s director of engineering. “We specialize in manufacturing radio frequency (RF) products that are sensitive to slight variations in solder volume that can affect product performance. As a result, selective soldering greatly expands our process capabilities with automated bottom- and top-side preheat, spray fluxing and solder dwell times in a nitrogen-controlled environment that yields products with very high reliability.”
The Juki CUBE.460 sets the new standard for selective wave soldering systems. Its unique batch platform offers excellent flexibility for through-hole applications and is configured with a dual nozzle for increased flexibility. The CUBE.460 comes equipped with many standard features that include heated nitrogen at the soldering nozzle, 0° and 7° soldering to accommodate various types of nozzles including wetted nozzle tips and non-wetted nozzles, a live viewing camera and fiducial correction.
“We are committed to continuously invest in our technology in order to provide our customers the most flexible, precise, cost-effective support for their electronics manufacturing needs,” said Greg Chesnutt, Prime’s president and CEO. “Since 2015, Prime has added three new SMT lines, new wave solder lines, automated optical inspection equipment, and conformal coating equipment, as well as expanded the footprint of our principal facility by 35 percent.”
