February 20th, 2018 ― Cranston, Rhode Island USA - AIM, a leading global manufacturer of solder assembly materials for the electronics industry, announces that Timothy O’Neill, AIM’s Technical Marketing Manager, participated in the SMTA Ohio Valley Chapter Solder Roundtable Meeting which took place at The Rhinegeist Brewery in Cincinnati, Ohio on February 1st, 2018. Mr. O’Neill spoke to the group about the evolution of lead-free solder alloys.

Several speakers from leading solder suppliers participated in the day-long event with a focus on flux and alloy technologies and PCB processing.  AIM’s REL22™ and REL61™ alloys were featured as a drop-in solution to address issues with SAC305 in high reliability applications.  Attendees gained a better understanding of the evolution of lead-free solder alloys, the limitations of today’s common alloys, and what the solder industry is offering as next generation materials.
