Flamatt, 23.11.2018: The Board of Directors of the Comet Group appoints Thomas Wenzel as head of the X-Ray Systems (IXS) division, General Manager of YXLON International, and member of the Executive Committee of the Comet Group, effective December 1, 2018.

Following a comprehensive evaluation process, the Comet Group has thus selected an in-house candidate with 25 years of experience in the x-ray systems business.

In Thomas Wenzel, 53, a seasoned leader and proven expert in the business is taking the helm of X-Ray Systems. Holding a computer science degree and a PhD in engineering, he has 15 years of management experience at the renowned Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits in Erlangen, Germany. There he had strategic, scientific and financial responsibility for the Nanofocus System Engineering area and later for Process - Integrated Test Systems. Since 2015 Thomas Wenzel has been Vice President, Technology, of the X-Ray Systems division and the Comet Group. Moreover, as interim head of Research & Development at X -Ray Systems he has played a central role in advancing the development of this business in the past months.

On December 1, 2018, Thomas Wenzel will take over the management of the IXS division from Matthias Barz, who has led it since July 2018 as interim manager and who will continue to assist with the initiated measures until their completion. Flamatt, 23.11.2018: Der Verwaltungsrat der Comet Group ernennt Dr. Thomas Wenzel per 1. Dezember 2018 zum Leiter der Division X-Ray Systems (IXS), Geschäftsführer von YXLON International und zum Mitglied der Geschäftsleitung der Comet Group. Comet Group setzt nach einem umfassenden Evaluationsprozess auf einen internen Kandidaten mit 25 Jahren Erfahrung im Röntgensystemgeschäft.

Mit Dr. Thomas Wenzel , 53, übernimmt eine erfahrene Führungspersönlichkeit und ein ausgewiesener Kenner des Geschäfts die Leitung von X -Ray Systems. Der studierte Informatiker und promovierte Ingenieurwissenschaftler blickt auf 15 Jahre Führungserfahrung am renommierten Fraunhofer-Institut für integrierte Schaltungen in Erlangen zurück. Hier trug er die strategische, wissenschaftliche und finanzielle Verantwortung für die Bereiche Nanofocus System Engineering und später Prozessintegrierte Prüfsysteme. Seit 2015 ist Thomas Wenzel als Vice President Technology der Division X -Ray Systems wie auch der Comet Group tätig. Als Interimsleiter Research & Development gestaltete er zudem die Weiterentwicklung des Röntgensystemgeschäfts in den letzten Monaten maßgeblich mit.

Dr. Thomas Wenzel übernimmt am 1. Dezember 2018 die Leitung der Division IXS von Dr. Matthias Barz, der das Geschäft seit Juli 2018 als Interimsmanager geführt hat, und die eingeleiteten Maßnahmen bis zu deren Abschluss weiter begleiten wird. Verwaltungsrat und Management danken Dr. Matthias Barz für seine Leistung und sein Engagement.
