Vernon Hills, IL, February 20, 2019 – Fuji America Corporation, a world leading supplier of Surface Mount Technology Pick & Place and Smart Factory solutions is honored to announce that their easy multi-joint 5 axis SmartWing robot earned a New Product Introduction (NPI) award for Automation Tools during IPC Apex 2019.
The NPI awards, sponsored by Circuits Assembly and Printed Circuit Design and Fab, part of UP Media Group, recognizes leading new products during the last 12 months based on criteria including product creativity, innovation and compatibility with existing technology.
Fuji’s compact, multi-axis SmartWing makes robotic automation simple and accessible for all. The product addresses many different factory applications with its modular concept and ability to adapt to any task from assembly sorting, automatic screw driving, etc. The Smart Wing requires no teaching resulting in 40% faster setup time than other robotic systems, while using coordinate compensation technology, and a high resolution 2 million pixel color camera with capabilities to support QR and data matrix code. In addition to SmartWing for back end automation, Fuji will also highlighted their full line of PCB assembly platforms, Smart Tools and machine-to-machine seamless communications with their intelligent Nexim factory control software.
Smart Factory line M2M communications demonstrated
In addition to SmartWing for back end automation, Fuji also highlighted their full line of PCB assembly platforms, Smart Tools and machine-to-machine seamless communication with their intelligent Nexim factory control software. Several other new advancements included our cost and space saving “inner matrix tray” accessory for the AIMEXIII that supports a small number of JEDEC trays within the existing machine footprint. Fuji’s Dyna Head Glue Auto Tool was also shown to round off the AIMEXIII new advancements.
Fuji’s low cost, easy operation GPX-C high precision screen printer was also a highlight, and now supports large 610mm X 610mm (24” x 24”) printed circuit boards and a quicker panel loading time of 7.5 seconds with a faster print accuracy and repeatability of + 20um. With SPI feedback, local verifier, traceability and 2D inspection, the GPX-C maximizes customer production efficiency.
Integrated Smart Factory solutions featuring predictive maintenance tools
Our Nexim Smart Factory software platform was demonstrated to show control the Manufacturing process using several Smart Factory Tools. Fuji’s latest offering is the “Defect Analysis Monitoring tool” which assists customers in having a single source to view and analyze PCB defects by collecting data from all machines in the process including Screen Printer, SPI, AOI and Oven. We also demonstrated the benefits of our closed-loop feedback system which connects Koh Young and Saki machines to the Fuji machines to improve quality and stabilize the process.
Fuji’s “sTowerII” storage tower was also shown and now offers high storage 3000 reel capability (4mm to 72mm reel width) and 1/3 less time taken for picking parts. In addition, reels can store individually with smart carriers in combination with high efficiency storage. Coupled with Fuji’s Smart Setup Station, Fuji makes parts availability and changeover work simpler by providing one location for both processes. The featured Smart Setup Station advantages include easy connectability, parts verification auto-rewind reels, and part setting guidance.
