Manufacturer repurposes to help medical industry

Pro-Active Engineering, Inc., a leading electronic design and manufacturing service provider in Sun Prairie, WI, decided to do our part to support the frontline healthcare workers fighting the COVID virus.  Upon reading a post on social media we learned about the need of a new 3D printable object to relieve medical staff, whom wear surgical masks.

A young Canadian scout came up with the idea recently, and shared the files on social media so others could manufacturer the “ear guards” for their local healthcare providers.  It is a small, bendable plastic strap, worn around the back of the head with different sized hooks to allow the wearer to hook their mask in a more comfortable spot, off the ear.  We have heard stories of nurses and other hospital staff are developing calluses or sore spots from wearing the masks for long hours day after day. Pro-Active Engineering has been manufacturing and distributing these devices all over the nation, focusing on nearby areas, such as Mayo Clinic, Froedtert South and Stoughton hospital, to get them there quickly. Our hope is people will join this world wide cause no matter how small.  We are not a large business, but it’s true what they say, every little bit helps.
