Suwanee (USA), May 11, 2022 – Twice a year, technology leader ASMPT hosts a livestream with the company’s latest innovations for electronics production. The next one will be held on June 29, 2022. Titled “ASM Impact – Release Summer 2022”, it will feature a variety of new hardware and software solutions that enhance productivity and efficiency. The attractions include a new version of the DEK TQ high-performance printer for boards that are up to 50 percent longer, the three-times-faster ProcessLens HD SPI system, the smart shop floor management suite Works, and other software solutions up to the factory and enterprise level from ASMPT subsidiary Critical Manufacturing.
ASM will present its latest hardware and software innovations for SMT production in two roughly one-hour livestreams on June 29, 2022, at 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM CET. During the presentation, participants can post questions directly to the ASM experts and chat with them.
“Our ASM Impact livestream format offers customers and interested parties the opportunity to learn in as little as one hour how they can make their factories more productive, efficient and resilient,” explains Alexander Hagenfeldt, Head of Global Solutions Marketing at ASMPT. “Our modular and non-proprietary Open Automation concept provides the framework. Our new hardware and software solutions fit seamlessly into this concept and make it even easier to implement your own integrated smart factory as effectively and efficiently as possible,” says Hagenfeldt.
New version of DEK TQ
With the DEK TQ L, a variant of the high-performance printer is now available that can handle printed circuit boards with a size of up to 600 x 510 millimeters – an increase of 50 percent compared to the already established DEK TQ. In a footprint of only 1.5 x 1.3 meters, the DEK TQ L is equally as precise as the standard version with its wet-printing accuracy of 17.5 microns at 2 CPk.
SPI: Speed and precision combined
With the HD version of the proven ProcessLens SPI system, speed and precision are no longer mutually exclusive in solder paste inspection. With a resolution of 20 microns in high-speed mode, the ProcessLens HD reduces the inspection time for customary boards by up to 70 percent compared to conventional SPI systems, without loss of measurement accuracy, thanks to the completely newly developed optics. As a particularly smart feature, the system can be switched via software to the only marginally slower high-resolution mode with its resolution of 10 microns. This is made possible by features such as the system's DLP chip with its 20 million individually controllable micro-mirrors for the zero-variation generation of moiré patterns and a 25-megapixel high-resolution camera system which covers a scanning area of 50 x 50 millimeters. Smart software and open interfaces allow the machine to communicate with third-party systems such as AOI systems at the end of the line. Particularly important for automation projects is the ability to expand the Process Lens with the Works application Process Engine into the industry's only self-learning SPI expert system that can stabilize, optimize and proactively control the entire printing process automatically.
Step-by-step to smart shop floor management
With the modular smart shop floor management Works users get the most out of their ASMPT equipment. Divided into workflows such as material management, production, monitoring and programming, it allows electronics manufacturers to invest in the kind of software package that works best for them. The assessment of what is needed where and when can be made based on roles or the intended use in accordance with individual requirements. The result: significantly improved overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) through workflow optimization, more efficient deployment of people, and automated processes. Whether it is deployed from the start or during subsequent expansions – the standardized integration platform keeps costs low and makes the implementation easy.
Factory-level solutions
Critical Manufacturing, the ASMPT subsidiary that specializes in electronics manufacturing software, will present new and improved solutions from the machine stage to the enterprise level. They include “Factory Automation”, which handles among others the coordination and control of AIV fleets as well as material management and provides a link to higher-level systems such as MES or ERP. The event will also feature the world premiere of “Factory Analytics” for enterprise-wide data collection and analysis. And with Critical Manufacturing MES, electronics manufacturers have a manufacturing execution system at their disposal that was designed for their specific needs. Simulations with digital twins, augmented-reality solutions, and a whole lot more complete the portfolio for the integrated smart factory.
