WASHINGTON, DC – With the addition of new member RTX, the Printed Circuit Board Association of America (PCBAA) now represents more than 70 companies at all levels of the PCB ecosystem from material suppliers to an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).

PCBAA is the PCB industry’s voice in Washington, DC, educating, advocating, and promoting legislation supporting domestic production of PCBs and IC substrates.

Because of PCBAA’s influence on Capitol Hill and in the agencies of government, more legislators and policymakers understand the critical role of PCBs in the nation’s national defense and critical infrastructure system. They now know that Chips Don’t Float: every chip needs a PCB and an IC Substrate to function, and the capacity of the domestic supply chain has fallen to dangerous levels.

“Over the past several decades, the PCB industry in the U.S. has seen a significant drop in capacity, capability, and number of PCB domestic suppliers. This has largely gone unnoticed outside of the PCB industry and presents serious issues in meeting the requirements of our customers and poses a threat to both economic competitiveness and our national security. Now more than ever, restoring and expanding U.S. based PCB manufacturing is essential. The Printed Circuit Board Association of America (PCBAA) plays a vital role in advocating for this critical industry, ensuring we can support both commercial needs and strategic national interests,” said Jennifer Pinson, Vice President of Integrated Supply Chain at Raytheon.

“RTX is the first OEM to join PCBAA. With their addition the association represents the entire PCB industry including materials providers, assemblers, manufacturers and now an OEM. The more voices we have to advocate for our industry, the more attention and action we can bring to our industry. We hope other OEMs and companies throughout the value chain will join as we champion legislation and policies that incentivize the domestic production of PCBs,” said Shane Whiteside, chairman of PCBAA and CEO of Summit Interconnect.
