ARMONK, NY - The groundbreaking sale of IBM's PC division to a Chinese OEM has passed a key federal review and is expected to go through.

The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States has completed its review of the estimate $1.75 billion sale to Chinese PC maker Lenovo.

An IBM spokesman today said, "With the review by the U.S. government complete, IBM and Lenovo are moving quickly to integrate the two companies and expect to finalize the transaction in the second quarter, as planned."

The proposed deal drew the attention - and concern - of some government officials for potential national security implications. Lenovo is partially owned by the Chinese government.
