Sypris Solutions said its Electronics Group's sales fell 52% year-over-year as the impact of the US Defense Department sequestration took its toll. Revenues increased 6% sequentially to $7.7 million in its second quarter ended June 30, while the gross loss declined to $500,000.LOS ANGELES -- Ducommun reported sales in its EMS operations were essentially flat during the second quarter as demand for aerospace and defense products offset slowness in other end-markets. The Company’s DLT segment reported net sales for the period ended June 29 of $107.5 million, compared to $107.8 million in 2012. Defense electronics and commercial aerospace revenue increased 16.5%, offset by a 25.8% decline in the segment’s non-A&D revenue.

KUNSHAN, CHINA-- Foxconn said allegations that its has polluted a major river in China are false, insisting that its printed circuit board plants here meet all local laws and regulations. The denial comes in response to a report released last week by the Institute of Public & Environmental Affairs and other nonprofit organizations that accuses Foxconn of dumping wastewater containing high levels of heavy metals.
HONG KONG – Researchers here have reportedly shown that printed circuit boards can be ground into powder that adsorbs toxic heavy metals in water, according to published reports.
MINNEAPOLIS -- CyberOptics swung to a second-quarter net loss of $1.2 million, down from net income of $143,000 a year ago. The net loss improved 43% from a loss of $2.1 million in the March quarter.
PATHUMTANI, THAILAND -- SVI Public Co. reported consolidated net income of $6.3 million in its second quarter, up $1.17 million from a year ago. Net sales for the period rose 17% sequentially to $63 million but were down $4 million from 2012.
