SAN JOSE -- Flextronics is analyzing the potential effects of
Nortel’s
impending bankruptcy on the EMS company’s finances and operations.
The contract assmbler has contracted with
Blackstone Group as a
financial adviser to study the impact, the company revealed.
Nortel, Canada's largest telecom company and a large Flextronics customer, recently filed for bankruptcy protection.
Flextronics has not yet disclosed the potential financial impact,
indicating it would provide details during its scheduled quarterly
conference call on Jan. 28.
It did allow that it "has
been proactively engaged in executing a risk mitigation plan with
respect to its relationship with Nortel for a period of several
months."
