SAN JOSE – The MicroElectronics Packaging and Test Engineering Council has finalized its program for the 7th annual MEMS packaging symposium.

The event will take place May 14 at the Wyndham Hotel in San Jose.

Stanford University mechanical engineering professor Dr. Beth Pruitt will keynote, with a look at MEMS for biology and medicine, including a range of applications that require MEMS to operate in biological environments with excellent signal fidelity and reliability. Dr. Pruitt also will review opportunities, needs and challenges for applying MEMS and microfabrication techniques to fundamental in vitro biology questions and translational medical problems.

Tina Lamers of Axept will present growth opportunities for MEMS in a changing economy, the outcomes of some of the working groups from METRIC 2009, the annual meeting for members of MEMS Industry Group.

Other sessions include enabling technologies for microfabrication; innovation in MEMS materials; MEMS innovation as enabler for cutting edge medical products, and consumer MEMS becoming a dominant market force.
