Compal Beats PC Shipments Forecast

TAIPEI -- Compal Electronics shipped 7.9 million laptop PCs in the second quarter, up 25% sequentially and beating company forecasts.
The company previously had guided for 15 to 20% sequential growth for the quarter.
The market picked up as the quarter progressed, with Compal shipping 2.7 million units in June.
Compal, the world's second-largest contract laptop PC manufacturer, reiterated its shipment guidance of 32 million to 35 million units for the year.
