SHANGHAI -- China's electronics and information manufacturing industry sales rose 5.3% in July, bringing the year-to-date total into the black.
Sequentially, sales fell 0.7 points from June, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said. However, sales to date are now up 0.8%, after dropping 0.6% through the first half.
Of the 27 major product segments the nation tracks, 13 now show positive growth. Cellphones were up 6% year-over-year, and passive components 16.6%. Displays and PCs were up 17% and 41.1%, respectively, and TVs 3.6%. ICs fell 6% year-over-year, better than the 13.4% fall in June.
Exports of electronics and information products were $228.4 billion, down 21.7% year-over-year.
