Pointing to rebounding capital spending throughout the electronics industry and reports of capacity constraints at some companies, the maker of device programming systems said its sales funnels have “more than doubled” since January of last year.
In an investor presentation, president Fred Hume said sales funnels are up 143% over January 2009, aided by rebounds in automotive electronics and cellphones.
Data I/O in January booked its largest software sale yet to a smartphone provider – more than $150,000 of profit in the single order – and notes that smartphones orders are expected to grow sharply throughout 2010.
“Customers are spending $2 billion to $2.5 billion a year on programming solutions,” Hume wrote, and there is programmable content in “everything.”
