ARLINGTON, VA -- Electronic component orders kept rising in April as demand increased in almost every end-product segment, from automotive to cellphones to computers, according to the monthly order index compiled by the Electronic Components Association.
The upswing follows a large jump in the March index, ECA said. Meanwhile, the 12-month moving average continued its ascent begun last summer.
The data are based on direct reporting by leading component manufacturers to ECA.
"Manufacturers have been riding a modest wave over the last nine months," says Bob Willis, ECA president. "It's no tsunami, but it's certainly welcome after a stagnant or receding market during the previous two years."
