SOLON, OH -- Keithley Instruments' parent company plans to shut its plant outside Cleveland and move operations to China. As many as 350 workers could be affected, according to published reports.
The maker of measurement equipment, which was acquired last year by Danaher in a $300 million deal, plans to leave its local R&D intact, but is not commenting on how many jobs will be moved or retained.
According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Keithley will move its Solon manufacturing operations to Shanghai, where fellow Danaher company Tektronix manufactures oscilloscopes. The Plain Dealer reported about 350 workers are currently at the Solon site, an undisclosed number in R&D.
At the request of the company, neither Solon city officials nor Keithley employees were commenting about the pending move.
