ZALAEGERSZEG, HUNGARY -- Flextronics has reportedly laid off roughly 1,000 contract workers at its EMS site here due to lower demand.

The world's second-largest contract electronics assembler reportedly has reduced its local staffing to 9,000 workers as typical seasonality slowed the need for production.

Still, staffing remains much higher than at the beginning of the year.

The company has five sites in Hungary, one of its most dense areas for printed circuit board assembly in the world.
