TORONTO -- Celestica reported net income rose 44% from last year to $43.2 million as the company's market diversification strategy paid dividends.

 

The contract electronics manufacturer said revenue fell 6% to $1.69 billion for the period ended March 31.

The EMS firm said demand is stabilizing, although visibility remains limited. RIM is Celestica's largest customer, at about 20% of sales.

Celestica guided for second-quarter revenue of $1.65 billion to $1.75 billion.
