MILPITAS, CA – Zollner Electronics has launched local production of the Fuji DC Quick Chargers for electric vehicles, the companies announced.

The first production units, a slimmed down third generation 25kW DC Quick Charger, is now shipping from Zollner’s 52,000 sq. ft. facility in the Silicon Valley to Fuji Electric’s customers around the world.

“Fuji Electric has built a 90-year reputation on its high manufacturing standards, and Zollner Electronics immediately jumped to the top of our list when we were seeking a US partner for local design and manufacturing of our DC Quick Charger,” said Larry Butkovich, Fuji Electric’s General Manager of EV Systems. “Working with Zollner allows us to continue using Fuji Electric’s core technology while quickly responding to local market demands here in the US”

John Burke, Zollner Electronic’s chief of operations and general manager for the Fuji Electric project, added“We are excited about our relationship with Fuji Electric and pleased with the outcome of this design and manufacturing project. This is one of the most advanced DC Quick Chargers in the world, and we are proud to say that it was designed and built right here in California.”

The sleek 25kW DC Quick Charger is built to the CHAdeMO specification and allows EV owners to charge their electric vehicles in under an hour. With over 350 units deployed worldwide, Fuji Electric entered the US market in March 2012 and obtained UL Certification on the third generation model earlier this month.
