SAN JOSE — North America-based semiconductor equipment manufacturers reported 90-day bookings fell 11.9% from last year in August. Orders were down 2.7% sequentially, the SEMI trade group said.
Total orders reached $1.06 billion worldwide in August on a three-month average basis. Billings fell 10.1% from the revised July figure and 18.7% year-over-year.
The book-to-bill ratio slipped 20 basis points to 0.98, the third straight month the ratio fell. A book-to-bill of 0.98 means that $98 worth of orders were received for every $100 of product billed for the month.
