REDMOND, WA -- Data I/O swung to third quarter net income of $146,000, up from a loss of $1.3 million a year ago. For the period ended Sept. 30, net sales were up 24% to $5.4 million. Bookings rose $200,000 over last year to $4.3 million.

Gross margin as a percentage of sales was 47.7%, up from 44.7% in the third quarter 2012 primarily on higher sales volume.

"We were very pleased to return to EBITDA and operating profitability," said Anthony Ambrose, president and CEO. "After starting well, bookings decelerated and were softer than expected at $4.3M for the quarter. We continue to see economic uncertainty in many countries and markets."
