MANILA – Cal-Comp plans to open a new $32 million factory in Batangas by the end of March, the company said.
The new plant will employ as many as 4,000 people, according to the local Department of Trade and Industry.
The company has earmarked another $32 milliion for capacity expansions this year.
Cal-Comp has manufacturing facilities in 11 locations worldwide, including four each in China and Thailand. The new campus is its second in the Philippines, which the firm's parent company has targeted as a future major production base.
New Kinpo chief executive Simon Shen said the Philippines will become the main production base of its consumer electronics customers. Cal-Comp is a subsidiary of New Kinpo.
Cal-Comp is the world's 12th largest EMS company, according to the CIRCUITS ASSEMBLY Top 50.
