HYDERABAD, INDIA – Indian mobile handset maker Micromax will set up a mobile device manufacturing facility here, the first such plant in the state of Telangana.
“Micromax has decided to set up its manufacturing plant near Hyderabad. The company would be issuing a letter of intent on Friday, when the Chief Minister launches the state’s industrial policy. They would sign an MoU in the next ten days,” said Telangana IT minister K T Rama Rao, according to published reports.
Micromax is one of multiple cellphone handset OEMs the Indian government has engaged in talks over setting up domestic manufacturing operations. Foxconn is expected to visit Hyderabad today as part of its plan to build a plant in India as well.
