SRI CITY, ANDHRA PRADESH, INDIA -- Foxconn will more than double smartphone manufacturing capacity at its Andhra Pradesh factory site this year, according to reports.
India's Economic Times, citing multiple sources, says the world's largest ODM/EMS company will add capacity to build 2.5 million units per month, up from the current production levels of about 1 million.
Foxconn is not commenting on the report.
Foxconn will add 1,000 workers to its local staff, bringing headcount to 7,000 workers, the sources added.
Plant space will be increased to about 500,000 sq. ft. and the number of production lines increased by 10 to a total of 35.
