CAMBRIDGE, ENGLAND -- Scanfil has begun discussions with its subsidiary here to restructure the company’s operations, with the possibility of closing the money-losing unit.
Scanfil has announced that it will initiate negotiations with the representatives of the personnel groups of Scanfil Ltd., in accordance with English legislation. The option of discontinuing production at the factory will also be discussed, the EMS company said.
The unit was acquired as part of Scanfil's purchase of PartnerTech last summer.
The restructuring negotiations concern all personnel.
Closing the unit would pose "no significant impact" on earnings, the firm said. The business reported 2015 sales of EUR 6.1 million and an operating loss of about EUR 1.1 million.
