BANNOCKBURN, IL – IPC is actively refuting statements in an NGO report on brominated flame retardants released this week.

SCHAUMBURG, IL -- Sparton Corp.'s EMS sales fell 62% in its fiscal third quarter ended March 31 as the company continued to lose customers in that business.

ST. LOUIS -- Viasystems announced first-quarter sales of $186.6 million, up 51.2% from 2009.

TAIPEI – Hon Hai Precision (Foxconn) reported first-quarter sales were NT$554 billion, up 44% compared to the same period last year.

FREMONT, CA -- Macrotron Systems has moved its manufacturing lines to a 75,000 sq. ft. former Intel facility, the company said today.

The electronics manufacturing services provider’s new home is 44235 Nobel Drive, Fremont. Macrotron occupies 40,000 sq. ft.; the remaining 35,000 capacity will be subleased.

The Nobel Drive structure increases the ability for Macrotron to expand its business, the 25-year-old firm said.

LAGUNA, PHILIPPINES – Top 25 electronics manufacturing services provider Integrated Micro-Electronics Inc. reported an 11% year-on-year first-quarter jump in revenues to $90.5 million.

NELSON, BC -- Electronics manufacturing services firm Pacific Insights reported March quarter sales of $8.02 million, up 75.5% from 2009.

MINNEAPOLIS -- EMS firm Nortech Systems returned to first-quarter profitability despite flat net sales of $21.7 million.

GARBSEN, GERMANY – LPKF Laser & Electronics AG boosted its sales in the first quarter to $22.2 million, up 74%.

The quarterly EBIT of $5.4 million and an EBIT margin of 24% were well above original forecasts, the firm said.

The growth is attributed to business development within the Cutting & Structuring Lasers and the Rapid Prototyping segments.

The board upgraded its forecast for the year, expecting sales of at least $75.9 million and an EBIT margin of at least 14%.

TORONTO -- Top 50 electronics manufacturing services company SMTC today reported first-quarter revenue rose 27% to $61.4 million on increased orders from a number of customers.

LAS VEGAS -- The Electronic Components Association will assume management for the Electronic Distribution Show (EDS) from 2011 through 2013.

BANNOCKBURN, IL – IPC is requesting abstracts for the 2011 Apex/Expo technical conference in Las Vegas.

Presentations are sought on relevant design, PCB fabrication and electronics manufacturing topics. Submissions dealing with reliability, head-on-pillow and Pb-free repair and rework, as well as new research in growing areas such as photovoltaics and printed electronics, are especially encouraged for the Apr. 12–15 event.

Three-hundred-word abstracts summarizing original and previously unpublished work covering case histories, research and discoveries are due July 16.

Submissions should describe significant results from experiments, emphasize new techniques, discuss trends of interest, and contain a summary of the technical and/or appropriate test results in the final paper.

In addition, proposals are solicited for full-day and half-day professional development courses on design, printed board and electronics manufacturing processes and materials.

Awards will be presented for Best US Paper for US authors and Best International Paper for authors outside the US.
