PHAKALANE, BATSWANA -- A locally owned company will open an electronics design and assembly site here later this year, where it will employ 250 workers.

Almaz, a citizen-owned company, also plans to distribute its own laptops and cellphones, with the goal to compete with name-brands.

“We aim to penetrate the market by providing a tailor-made solution for the Botswana market. With this plant almost ready for operation, with an aim to have everything set up by November this year," CEO Monametsi Kalayamotho said.
