MILPITAS, CA — Worldwide semiconductor manufacturing equipment billings reached $13.1 billion for the first quarter, boosted by record March billings.
The quarter ended very strong, with March billings reaching $5.6 billion, an all-time monthly record, SEMI reported today.
The quarterly mark topped the previous record set in the third quarter of 2000. Billings for the most recent quarter were up 14% higher sequentially and 58% over a year ago.
The data are gathered jointly with the Semiconductor Equipment Association of Japan (SEAJ) from over 95 global equipment companies that provide data on a monthly basis.
