MADISON, WI — The Wisconsin Senate tonight approved nearly $3 billion in cash payments for Foxconn Technology Group.
The Senate passed the bill with 20 members voting to affirm and 13 voting to reject the massive incentive plan. The Wisconsin Assembly will vote on the bill on Thursday.
The controversial package is seen as necessary to attract Foxconn, which has said it plans to build a large flat panel display manufacturing campus in the state.
Separately, the mayor of Kenosha, one of the towns in the running for the site, said his city was no longer interested in the plant.
