For the three months ended July 3, LaBarge earned $2.8 million, up from $2.5 million a year ago.
Revenue rose 10% to $45.1 million from $40.9 million. Much of the gains came from defense customers, which accounted for 45% of fiscal 2005 sales. Defense shipments were about 30% higher than 2004.
LaBarge warned that the current quarter's results will be depressed by customers' decisions to push out shipment schedules. The deferrments will hurt first-quarter profits, the company said.
LaBarge predicted first-quarter sales of $41 million to $42 million, down from sales of $43.6 million last year.
The company expects a second quarter rebound and large gains in the second half of fiscal 2006.
For fiscal 2005, profit rose 58% to $10.9 million on a 39% spike in revenue, to $182.3 million.
