TORONTO - Nortel Networks Corp. today said its manufacturing plant in Monkstown, Northern Ireland, would no longer be included in the sale of several of its factories to
Flextronics. Instead, Nortel, will use the plant as its regional supply-chain
center for operations in Europe, the Middle East
and Africa.
The move saves Flextronics about $100 million, Reuters news service
reported. Flextronics will now pay between $575 million to $625 million
for the Nortel plants, according to Reuters.
The Flextronics-Nortel deal was announced in June 2004. Last month, Nortel transferred its manufacturing operations in
Chateaudun, France, and operations in Calgary and Campinas, Brazil, are scheduled to be turned over by
the end of March 2006.
