WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- Dell this month will open a 750,000 sq.-ft. manufacturing facility -- the computer maker's largest -- in the Alliance Science &
Technology Park in Winston-Salem.
The new facility will employ about 700
people in its first year of operation and will have 1,500 employees
within five years, Dell said in a statement today.
The facility will produce Dell’s build-to-order desktop computers for East Coast business and consumer customers.
Dell, which also operates manufacturing sites in Tennessee and Texas, is
the only top tier IT company manufacturing its own
PCs in the U.S.
Construction of the new
facility was completed in just nine months, having begun in January.
