ST. LOUIS -- LaBarge Inc. named William Bitner vice president of operations, responsible for the EMS company's defense and government-oriented manufacturing operations. He succeeds Vernon Anderson, who is retiring

Bitner has more than 20 years of experience with global companies in electronics and electromechanical manufacturing, with extensive work in both the commercial and defense aerospace markets. Before joining LaBarge, he was vice president and general manager for Burger Boat. Previously, Bitner was vice president and general manager of operations for Rolls-Royce. He also served in a variety of operations management and quality engineering positions for Honeywell/AlliedSignal.

Bitner holds a master's degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix and a bachelor's degree in Technology and Management from Arkansas State University. He has extensive training in Lean manufacturing and quality assurance.
