ST. LOUIS -- LaBarge Inc. has been awarded a contract worth more than $18 million by
L-3 Communications to produce subassemblies for an airline checked-baggage
screening system. The agreement is in addition to a contract L-3
awarded LaBarge last spring, and expands the company's involvement in
the program to the production of higher-level electronic assemblies. The subassemblies LaBarge manufactures for L-3 Communications are
used in advanced technology explosives detections systems that are
deployed at key international airports to automatically scan checked
baggage. The system also has been adapted for a U.S. rail passenger
baggage screening pilot program.
LaBarge will perform the majority of the work at its Huntsville facility, with support from its Tulsa facility. Production is expected to continue through June 2009.
