FRANKLIN, MA – The U.S. Patent Office has issued a patent to
Speedline Technologies for the method first used its Accela printer’s stencil wiper system.
US Patent no. 7,017,489 covers a method used to minimize downtime from wiper service during the printing operation.
This method can be used on screen and stencil printers.
Joe Perault, Speedline manager of applications engineering, is credited with the invention. In a statement, Perault said, “With this invention, we have
simplified the steps to service the printer’s stencil wiper in order to
minimize the amount of time the machine is out of service -- resulting
in higher throughput, and greater profit potential for the operation.”
The invention has been implemented on Speedline's Accela, and is the fourth patent issued for the machine. The printer has eight other patents pending.
