WASHINGTONNew orders for manufactured goods in June, up four of the last five months, rose 1.2% to $406 billion, the highest level in the 14 years U.S. Census Bureau has tracked the data.

Shipments, down two of the last three months,

fell 0.3% to $403 billion, reversing a 2.5% May increase.

Unfilled orders, up thirteen of the last fourteen months, rose 1.6% to $621.4 billion, the highest level since the series began and following a 0.7% May increase.

Unfilled orders-to-shipments ratio was 4.23, up from 4.18 in May. Inventories, up eight of the last nine months, 0.8%. The inventories-to-shipments ratio was 1.16, up from 1.15 in May.

New orders for manufactured durable goods, up four of the last five months, rose 2.9%. Shipments were essentially flat. Unfilled orders were up 1.6%, and inventories rose 0.7%.
