SCHAUMBURG, IL – Sparton posted fiscal second quarter consolidated net sales of $105.2 million, up 7.6% year-over-year.
EBITDA for the quarter ended Dec. 30 was $8.2 million, a decrease of 3.2% compared to the same period the year prior. Consolidated operating income was $5.3 million, up 2.8%.
For the MDS segment, net sales for the quarter were $62.3 million, up 12.4%. Operating income was $1.7 million, compared to a loss of $200,000 in the fiscal second quarter of 2018.
New program wins for the segment have expected revenue of $15.5 million when fully ramped up into production. MDS had a backlog of $154 million, compared to $142 million in the same period the previous year.
For the ECP segment, net sales were $43 million, an increase of 1.3% year-over-year. Operating income was $9 million, down 11.8%. The segment had a fiscal second quarter backlog of $144 million, compared to $130 million the year before.
For the first half of fiscal 2019, the company’s total net sales were $194.7 million, an increase of 7.8% year-over-year. EBITDA was $13.5 million, up 33.2%, and consolidated operating income was $7.5 million, up 125%.
