HAIPHONG CITY, VIETNAM – EMS firm USI broke ground on a new 65,000 sq. m. facility here, with a planned investment of $200 million for phase one.
The smart manufacturing factory will be built according to Industry 4.0 standards and will be completed in two phases.
Phase one is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2021, with production set to begin in the third quarter. The facility will initially focus on manufacturing and assembling chips for wearable electronic devices.
The company has 10 manufacturing sites globally. This will be USI’s first production site in Southeast Asia.
The factory is expected to create more than 1,700 jobs.
